Beauty is a complex concept that has many different interpretations. Some people believe that it is a completely objective property, while others think that it is a subjective feeling. It is important to understand these different viewpoints so that you can have a better understanding of what it means to be beautiful.
The classical conception of beauty is based on symmetry, proportion, and harmony. Throughout Western culture, this conception is embodied in works of art and literature, including architecture, sculpture, and music.
It is also a central element in Western philosophy. Ancient philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle drew on the classical conception of beauty in their treatment of beauty in art, philosophy, and religion.
In ancient Greek thought, the idea of beauty was typically associated with pleasure and joy. The philosopher Plotinus describes beauty in ecstatic terms: “This is the spirit that beauty must ever induce, wonderment and a delicious trouble, longing and love and a trembling that is all delight” (Plotinus 23, [Ennead I, 3].
Some modern philosophers argue that the idea of beauty can be subjective. This is because people tend to apply the word ‘beautiful’ to very different things, and sometimes they even disagree about what they consider to be a painting.
A person who believes that the word ‘beautiful’ is a subjective feeling would say, ‘I like that picture because it looks good to me’. The person who believes that the word ‘beautiful’ has an objective quality would say, ‘I like that picture for its aesthetic properties’.
One could say that ‘beauty’ is both a subjective and an objective property, but it is difficult to make this case. A simple non-natural property that ‘beautiful’ is, will not be subject to the effects of a subjective feeling; in fact, there is no such thing as a’subjective feeling’.
Another way to look at it is that there are two kinds of ‘beauty’: outer and inner. Outer beauty is something that you see and feel on the outside, for example: fair skin, lustrous hair, a great figure, or confidence, good health, and determination to be a good human being.
Inner beauty is what you feel on the inside, for example: purity, authenticity, innocence, kindness, humbleness, and unique qualities that make a person or thing special. If you find someone who is attractive at first sight but doesn’t have these qualities, that will not last for a long time.
So what can you do to have more beauty in your life? Here are some ideas: Be there for someone who needs you, be honest about your mistakes and work to make them right, give without expecting anything in return, share your struggles, and take care of yourself. By doing these things, you will gain a lot of inner and outer beauty that you can cherish for the rest of your life!
